MORE INFORMATIONS

Helmut Lang is an austrian fashion designer who founded his eponymous label in 1986. Lang is known for his minimalist and avant-garde designs, which have been credited with influencing the direction of fashion in the 1990s and beyond.

Lang was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1956. He studied fashion design at the Vienna University of Applied Arts and the Royal College of Art in London. After graduating, Lang worked as a designer for several fashion houses, including Comme des Garçons and Sonia Rykiel.

In 1986, Lang launched his own label with a collection of men's and women's ready-to-wear. His designs were immediately met with critical acclaim, and he quickly became one of the most influential designers of his generation. Lang's designs were characterized by their minimalist aesthetic. He used simple lines, clean silhouettes, and neutral colors to create a sense of understated elegance. His clothes were often made from high-quality materials, such as cashmere, leather, and silk.

Lang was also known for his experimental approach to fashion. He often incorporated unconventional materials and techniques into his designs, such as latex, vinyl, and bondage straps. This helped to create a sense of edginess and rebellion in his work. Lang's designs were popular with a wide range of consumers, including celebrities, fashion insiders, and everyday people. He was also a favorite of fashion editors and critics, who often praised his innovative designs.

In 2004, Lang retired from fashion design. He sold his label to Prada Group, which continues to produce collections under the Helmut Lang name.
